Frequently Asked Questions

  • - Microblading is a permanent makeup technique that uses a handheld tool to create fine hair-like strokes on the eyebrows. The "hairs" are hand-drawn and artistically placed directly into your existing hair pattern to help fill in sparse areas while maintaining an all-natural appearance. Microblading alone is best for dry to normal skin types with small pores and lots of collagen. Microblading is not ideal for sun-damaged skin, advanced aging skin, oily skin, large pores, or extremely thin or sensitive skin. If you are unsure of which technique is best for you, we will analyze your skin and discuss your options at the time of your appointment or consultation.

  • - Ombre Brows, also known as shading, is another Permanent Makeup eyebrow technique. It involves using a machine similar to a tattoo machine to create a gradient and airbrushed effect. Starting with a softer, lighter color at the front of the brow and gradually transitioning to a more defined, darker shade towards the tail. Using this shading technique gives dimension and helps make the brows look realistic. Ombre Brows are suitable for all skin types.

  • -Powder Brows are created using the same technique as Ombre Brows but more filled in all over rather than lighter at the front. Powder Brows can be either soft or bold depending on your style choice. With a soft powder brow, you can expect it to heal like a soft powder eyebrow makeup. Bold powder brows offer the most polished and defined look of all the brow services and will be most similar to dip brow/brow pomade eyebrow makeup. Powder Brows are suitable for all skin types

  • -Blended Brows are our signature style of Permanent Makeup Brows involving a gorgeous blend of both Microblading hair strokes and airy shading. Keeping the brow natural yet polished with fluffy "hairs" at the beginning of the brow and shading throughout the body and tail for a more defined brow shape. We also customize this look to meet each individual's needs by adding Microblading where you may be missing hair and Shading where you need more definition and shape. So versatile and my personal favorite.

  • - All Permanent Makeup services offered last 1-3 years. Longevity depends on factors such as skin type, aftercare, and individual lifestyle. Annual touch-ups should only be done once your permanent makeup has faded at least 50%. Very oily skin types and sun-damaged skin tend to fade quicker over time and may need more touch-ups.

  • -Sunscreen is your best friend! Not only for your skin but also your PMU. Wear sunscreen on your face DAILY to protect your permanent makeup and prevent premature pigment aging. Also, avoid strong skincare (acids, retinoids, peels) and heavy exfoliation on your PMU for longer-lasting results.

  • - Discomfort levels can vary from person to person, but typically, discomfort levels are minimal. Some clients describe it as a tweezing or a sunburn sensation, some clients do not feel it at all. Topical and secondary numbing is used throughout the procedure to ensure comfort. Around 85% of our guests fall asleep during their treatment since our studio maintains a relaxing and gentle ambiance to help ease tension or butterflies about the procedure.

  • - After your appointment, your brows will look about 30-40% darker and bolder than they will be healed. You may experience mild swelling and soreness on the day of your procedure. Days 2-3 of healing your brows will oxidize meaning the color may appear darker than on the first day. Days 4-7 your brows will enter the "ghosting" stage where the top layer of skin begins healing and flaking may occur (similar to a sunburn peel). Your brows will appear lighter than normal during this stage and the color will begin resurfacing over the next 2-4 weeks. The healing process and timeline may vary for each individual, please follow proper precare and aftercare instructions to maintain healthy healing. For more information about pre-care, aftercare, and the healing process Click Here.

  • -Technically no, there is no downtime after getting permanent makeup. Most clients do not feel the need to take off work or stay home while healing. Your brows will be 30-40% darker and bolder on the first day with minor swelling, soreness, and redness. Your brows will continue to be bold for the next 2-3 days and then become a bit patchy and light on days 4-7. You will want to avoid heavy sweating and exercise, direct sunlight, bodies of water, and dust/dirt circulating chores such as mowing the lawn for the first 7 days for proper healing. The only thing you will physically need to do to take care of your permanent makeup the first week is washing and applying ointment morning and night.

    -FAUX FRECKLES: 1-2 hours

  • We are not able to tattoo over any raised bump on the skin.

PIMPLE / RASH: We cannot tattoo over pimples since it could cause an infection or worsen the breakout. Please reschedule as soon as possible if you are experiencing pimples or a rash on your brow area.

MOLES/ Other raised bumps: Due to health department and safety concerns, we are unable to tattoo over raised bumps and moles under any circumstances. We will tattoo around the mole/bump or you may have it removed before your procedure.

SCARS: We ARE able to tattoo over scars but it may take multiple sessions to achieve desired saturation on the scar tissue. We are also able to leave the scar untouched and visible in the brow if desired (AKA slit brow).

*Those prone to keloid or hypertrophic scarring should avoid Permanent Makeup and tattoos in general

  • -No, PMU is not meant to completely replace traditional makeup. Since we are implanting pigment on the inside of the skin and traditional makeup sits on top of the skin, PMU tends to heal more soft and natural. There may be times when wearing a full face of makeup can cover your brow tattoo. I always recommend either wiping off your brow with a tissue or using makeup to help your brows stand out. You will already have the perfect brow shape so now it will only take seconds to fill in and no more struggling to make them match!

  • - It is advised to avoid wearing makeup or skincare on the treated area during the initial healing period. Once the permanent makeup has fully healed (7-10 days), you can resume wearing makeup. It's essential to use gentle products and avoid scrubbing the treated area during and after healing.

  • - Permanent Makeup does NOT damage your hair follicle in any way when performed by an experienced technician. However, I have witnessed cases of permanent makeup stimulating hair growth due to the increased attention to the area and the triggering of the skin's natural regeneration process which can increase collagen. Similar to microneedling, but this theory has not been tested or proven.

  • -Unlike traditional tattoos, we will not need to shave the area before we begin. The only hair that will be removed will be the hair outside of the agreed-upon brow shape.

  • -Permanent makeup procedures and pigments do not affect your natural brow color in any way. The pigment has no dye or stain to it so the only appearance of pigment you will leave with will be the pigment that was implanted in the skin. If you are someone with very light or grey hairs you may notice the hairs more after permanent makeup due to the contrasting background. You may tint, dye, or remove these hairs after your brows are healed.

  • -Absolutely! Your results are completely customizable, I will work with you to determine the most suitable shape and color based on your natural features and preferences. We will take into consideration your facial structure, skin tone, and hair color to create a customized look that enhances your appearance. You will be able to approve the design each step of the way!

  • -Stop taking blood thinners like aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, fish oil, CoQ10, and ibuprofen 48 hours before the procedure

-No alcohol or caffeine 24 hours before the procedure

-No Botox treatments should be done 3 weeks prior or 4 weeks after the procedure

-No chemical peels 60 days before or after the procedure (brows will peel quicker due to chemicals traveling under the skin)

-No Retinols/Retin-A, or other anti-aging/acne creams and serums containing acids at least 2 weeks before your appointment

-Do not work out or sweat heavily on the day of the procedure

-Do not tan or have a sunburned face on the day of the procedure

-No waxing or tinting 3 days before the procedure

-No accutane at least 1 year before the procedure

  • -To promote proper healing, it is recommended to avoid these for the first 7-14 days:

Swimming, saunas, hot tubs, baths, pools, beaches, and lakes

Makeup and skincare at least one inch from brows

Direct water in the shower, minimize the amount of water on your brows ( I will provide you with shower shields to help with this)

    Excessive sweating and exercise

    Sleeping on face

    Touching brows with unwashed hands

Activities with airborne debris like dusting, mowing the lawn, or riding in open-air vehicles like boats or convertibles

    Facials, botox, or chemical peels

Strong skincare with Retinol or Acids

Picking, scratching, peeling, or rubbing treated area

Direct sun exposure for two weeks (apply sunscreen to brows after they are fully healed for longer-lasting results)

  • -Machine: Permanent makeup machines are typically more gentle and have a lower vibration than a traditional tattoo machines.

-Pigments: Unlike traditional tattoo pigment, permanent makeup pigment is designed to fade away over 1-3 years. PMU pigments have a smaller particle size than traditional tattoo ink. This makes it easier for the ink to fade over time.

-Skin Depth: Permanent Makeup is placed in the layer of skin where the dermis meets the epidermis (the top layer of skin). Traditional tattoos are placed directly into the dermis. This means that permanent makeup is placed more superficial on the skin than traditional tattoos and will fade over time with the skin's natural regeneration process.

  • -Avoid heavy exercise and sweating 24 hours before your appointment and 5-7 days after your appointment. Heavy exercise before your appointment will cause an increase in blood flow and bleeding. Heavy sweating while your brows are healing is also not advised. The salt and bacteria in our sweat may cause significant fading or healing issues with fresh permanent makeup.

  • The sun is one of the biggest killers of permanent makeup. Especially during the first two weeks of healing. Direct sun exposure on fresh PMU brows may fade brows up to 90%. It is very important that you avoid direct sun exposure on your brows for the first 14 days of healing, please wear a hat or large sunglasses when in the sun and avoid tanning. After 7 days of healing you can start applying sunscreen on your brows daily to protect against premature fading.
